ok everyone i will be finished with this tennis project tonight---god willing
my friend (whose project it is) is coming over to finish the voice over segments
two problems:
1) there is a terrible hummmmm in parts of the video----from a fan at one indoor facility---can i take this out with vv3?
2) i made a really cool audio segment from acid 3.0 --- it played great on my computer--but when i transfered it to vhs tape to play on my tv, it sounded distorted
i made sure to check my levels in acid and vv3
i need help!!!!
we'll start with this project and then work to my personal life :)
thnx
sb

If the fan is a constant frequency, a notch filter set up in the Track or Bus EQ should take it out. If it's broadband, SF Noise Reduction might be able to do a better job it removing it. Trial version and audio demos on the website.

As far as distortion on your TV goes, in addition to checking the master meters for clipping in ACID & Vegas, check your VCR's analog input level to make sure it's not set to AGC mode, and that the manual levels are set correctly, if you have these controls.

Hi sb,

Another thing to keep in mind... average TV's usually have dinky little speakers that sound terrible when playing audio with generous bass, and/or a broad frequency/dynamic range.

(Many pro-setups include a set of small crappy speakers to play audio through, as "TV-verification" speakers, to assess the audio quality that viewers at home will experience.)

You might try adjusting a touch more compression on the audio tracks to see if it helps, or adjusting the low frequencies with EQ to see if that helps.

thnx marty thnx for the tip
one problem, i never eq'd audio before :(
i will definitely try
here is how i am doing the project...
i have 5 separate veg files
i will lay them all together on one project---copy and paste
then i will create ONE master veg file
then i will take the audio from the file, music , voice over, tennis ball being hit etc. and burn a CD
then i will try to do the following
1) take out the hummmm
2) clean up my audio intro, i made it in acid and i think i watched it 100 times over and over
then - will reinsert the clean audio into the mster VEG project
render it and be done with this project and then i will switch to golf because i will be through with tennis for a life time
thnx again and wish me luck
