You can drag the end of the event to desired length, no need to rejoin and I doubt that is possible.

CTRL-Z if you haven't done anything else.
Just delete one of the event splits and drag the edge of the other to replace.

Vegasaur has a "join - unsplit" option.

1. Delete one of the split events.
2. Drag the remaining event out to the desired length.

If your desire is that they just move together, then you can select multiple events and hit "G" to make them a new group. They'll always move with each other around the TL.

If you want something that is one single event you'd have to render out a new clip & place that new clip on the TL.

Excalibur has an "Undo Split" utility. Very useful.
