Composites open a whole new door into what's possible with Vegas. Best advice, experiment and have fun. Did you read the full PDF manual? Page 255 starts the basic how-to.

Composities are mostly for setting up and controlling parent/child relationships for multiple tracks but you can use composites on a single track with interesting results too. Then you move into masks and open another door for more possibilites.

Composites are really powerful... Vegas' ability to perform composites with preview to NTSC set it apart from most everything under a hundred-grand-plus $$$.

FX like the transporter, the light sabres, secret-wall are good examples of compositing. Also fx like moving images inside text.

Perhaps you might like an image moving in slo-mo as a background with a logo and picture-in-picture... compositing is your friend.

Maybe you have a city shot you want storm-clouds in... you might key-out the sky on the city-shot to show the storm clouds...

Or you might have a computer monitor or TV-set you want moving video in...
