Hi

I've decided that I may as well make best use of my wife's machine for rendering although it is only an Althon 650 it will free my one for further editing plus other things I need to do. I could set it to render all nigh & daay. But to give me an idea of it's capabilities is there a simple program I could download that will indiacte the sustained HDD read and write speeds?

Cheers

I don't think that it's fast enough for a relatively slow HD will effect it. But, I belive Nero has a disk speed checking program. It's to see how fast your HD is for writing from it to a cd.

try this:
http://www.aida32.hu/aida32.php

it's free, has a multitude of tests, including a HD speed test very much like HDTACH

Also a simple HDD speed test specifically for video is available called EZDVTEST from Canopus
