RE: jetdv's velocity point script

Background: jetdv wrote a script to "paste repeat" velocity envelopes - should be on Sundance shortly

My mission, however, is to clone the velocity points from one event onto another.

I have two tracks of video synchronized on the timeline - synced at the field level. And they are composited with eachother so when I slow one down, the other has to slow down exactly the same way.

One annoying thing about Vegas is when they say 0%, it doesn't always mean that. It could be 0.4% or something. There is no feedback to tell me that so I have to go to each point and hit Set to... and type in what I want. I discovered this extremely annoying foible while trying to manually synchronize two velocity envelopes.

Anyway, the events both start at the same point in time so that might simplify things.

I plan to use this technique a LOT so I will need a script whether I write it, modify yours or you write it. We might as well share info! :D

Question: Is it satisfactory to copy the points from the FIRST selected event to the SECOND selected event? If so, this script could be updated fairly quickly.

thanks jetdv....I was surprised to see that old thread had resurfaced in the vegas forum and was doubly surprised to see you'd written a script to solve the issue.

Old thread? Wow - I guess I didn't pay much attention to it in February. Just noticed it when it was revived last night.

OK, now there's a second version that will copy between two events. The only restriction is that the "to" event must be AFTER the "from" event. (either later on the same track or on a lower track)

Worked like a charm Edward, thanks!

If you sync video with a mask generator track, then you need to be able to synchronize any velocity events you apply to the main video by applying the exact same envelope to the mask generator version. For example, if you have a snowboarding video with a massive wipeout and you want to slow it down, but also mask out the snow and replace it with lava or something... you'll have to synchronize the video with the mask generator track used to knock out the snowy background.

It's surprising that it hasn't come up more often. In my case it's for synching two video tracks for 3d. I think it is an oversight that Vegas doesn't support it built in... thanks for picking up the slack Edward!

I don't see this on Sundance -- am I blind? If not, can you email it to jeremy at blue7media dot com? Thanks again Edward.

The first one has not yet appeared on Sundance. Didn't send the second since the first one hasn't yet appeared.

Both are on their way to you.
