A home made DVD does not have a region code, so in that you are correct. (Whether it is actually playable in Russia or not brings in other compatibility factors besides the region codes.)

My intended destination is actually Ukraine and AFAIK they have both the PAL and SECAM service in operation.

I hope I shall be OK.

I fly out in 9 days and I will let you know when I get back

Cheers

The age of the DVD player might also affect the compatibility. If it is a recent deck then you should be OK. Good luck.

Will you be shooting any video while you are there? Any interesting sights to see?

I think it is a recently purchased player so hopefully it will be OK.

Yes I will be shooting lots of video this time. It will be my second trip there and it is a beautiful country.

Some parts are very poor but the people are warm & friendly.

Kiev is a beautiful city with fabulous buildings and parks but this time I won't have time to visit it.

I will be in Dnepropetrovsk which has character and then travel to Yalta where I have not been before.

Cheers all.
