Re-register

Here's an annoying situation. I brought my PC to work today to do some maintenance and all of the Sonic Foundry software is asking to be re-registered. I have made no changes to the computer between my home and work. It is connected to a network at home (using DHCP to obtain an IP address from my own server); the same basic set up at work. The only thing that should have changed was the IP address.

It's not a real problem to re-register, but it is annoying and somewhat strange.

Anyone seen this before?

BTW- I'm using XP Pro (NOT connected to a domain).

A wild guess:

Could it be that the computer actually creates two users depending on where you are connected? I seem to recall that I had an account called "johanalthoff" AND one called "johanalthoff@starbreeze" on my old win2k setup. You might want to look into that, check the directory called "c:\documents and settings" and see if there are several similar entries.

Nope. Only the regular directory. Before registering again I went through the Windows registry looking for the serial/registration numbers. Nothing. It's like Windows XP went back to an archived registry.

I don't have restore points turned on.

Oh well ...
