Hello Group, Is such a thing possible??? Can I register my old vegas 3 on my second computer. (reg is needed for the mpeg-2 options).! And how would I go about it? Internet reg?? or e-mail reg??
You can have it registered on 2 computers as long as you 1-own both of the computers and 2- aren't using both of them at the same time like editing on one while rendering on another.
(Unless policy has changed after the Sony buy) You can register your new Vegas 4 on two computers if you like. You may not run them at the same time.

I had Acid Rock 2.0 installed and registered at my home. I later purchased Acid Pro 3.0 which I installed and registered at my home. What to do with Rock 2.0?? I installed it at work and registered it. No problem, all with SoFo's blessing.
My advice is call customer service (toll-free call), right after installing and tell them that you installed YOUR copy of Vegas on a different PC (Which is also YOURS), and that you'd like to register.
Different PCs have different ID numbers, you don't want SoFo thinking someone pirated your copy of Vegas and is trying to install it on their PC.
As long as you didn't UPGRADE V3 to V4, you're set to go. If you did upgrade, then it is illegal to use V3. Also, it would be illegel to sell V4 w/o the copy of V3 (because it's an upgraded copy).
Actually, that's not how it works for Sonic Foundry. SF treats upgrades like they are selling to preffered customers. You get the new version cheaper because you are a loyal customer. Unlike some software, you do not need to load VV3 to upgrade to V4. For instance, if your system crashed today, you would only have to install V4 and re-register it.
I second what HeeHee said.
I upgraded my Acid 2.0 to Pro 3.0 and was still able to install the 2.0 at work. The 2.0 is off the PC at work now, and I put it back on this machine along side my Acid Pro 4.0, for my kids to use.
Again, I called SoFo each time to double check.
