re-registering Vegas 8.0c - not working

So I did a fresh install of XP64 on my computer to move the OS over to a new RAID10 array - works great - but when I went to install 8.0c it wouldn't register it - I didn't install 8.0 first, just went to the 8.0c download - Oddly I was able to load and register 8.1 with no problems. Also was able to load and register DVDA 5.0b without loading 4.5 from the disk first. .netframework 3.0 and the update to 3.5 are both loaded. I've reloaded both Vegas Pro and DVDA the same number of times with reinstallations of Windows - maybe 4 or 5 times. Any suggestions?

I had the very same problem after having to reinstall XP recently. I had to fill out some official form to get a new activation number but then when I went to open Vegas again I was able to just paste in my old serial number. Never did use the activation I had just gotten.

I'm not an abuser, just someone who has had too many computer problems forcing me to reinstall Vegas a few times. Several times my NEO HDV got screwed up and the only way to solve the problem was to reinstall both NEO and Vegas -- don't blame me or make it difficult to reinstall what I've already paid for!

I keep saying this over and over... disk imaging is your friend. Install everything fresh, then do a disk image. When all hell breaks loose, just call up your image. It takes all of 15 or 20 minutes to install your disk image and all your personal settings, serial numbers... etc are all there in a fresh new install.

It couldn't get easier.

I will try that - however this is a multiple boot machine with 2 Raid arrays - one for OS applications on a 3 ware card - one for storage on the MB - and one more single disk - I don't know if I will be able to get an image to work reloading since it's a not necessarily a straight forward boot record. I do have ghost 12, just haven't used it yet, I'll try it this time after I get Vegas 8.0c running.

used chat and got the updated activation code and it's working fine - now to make an image.

I'm wondering if it's more based on authorizations in a time period vs total authorizations. I've never had to contact support & have reinstalled several times, but they're all spaced out.

The limit to installations, or registrations I should say, is ten. When I reached my limit I had to call up support and have them reactive me for up to another ten. Pain in the neck, but it worked.
