Re-registering Vegas on New Computer

I'm trying to install Vegas 7 and 8 on my new Vista 64 system (I need to install 7 so the upgrade to 8 will take). But I'm getting errors when I try to register online. There is a 'registration tool repair' that I downloaded, but that's not doing it either.

Anyone else have similar issues/tips?

So far, Vista is being quirky with just about everything, Vegas and otherwise. NOT a good first impression for a brand new computer. Thank goodness I bought it at Sam's.

I''ve been re-installing and registering both my Vegas 8.0 and 8.1 installations over and over again , maybe 10 times already this month for troubleshooting purposes.

So all I can say for sure is that it shouldnt be a problem at all to register more than once.

I'm slowly figuring it out. It's mostly a Vista issue.

my dad had vegas 6 register fine on his vista laptop. maybe the firewall or something?
