The first time you launch Vegas after being reinstalled it should offer to register it for you. If you're online at the time, the online registration is very fast and painless. If not, choose register by phone or register from another computer (which will produce a floppy that you take to a computer that does have online access).
Related to this question: I am bringing up a new machine and will be moving VV3 from the old one to this new one. Do I need to *un*register VV3 from my old machine before registering on the new machine? Thanks!

dthab,
You don't need to "un-register" so to speak...you "re-reg" on the new machine. Just clean the program off the old box and re-install on the new one. As mentioned earlier in the thread...the first time you start up on the new box, the registration wizard will walk you through. I find it even easier if you have access to the licensing registry file that should have been sent to you from SF at the time of your purchase.
When I re-install, I setup the software and before starting it up for the first time, I double click on my reg file to update my registry (this sets me serial number and other parameters without having to type em in) and then go into the app for the first time. Registration takes about 10-15 seconds. Easy.
A note: When you re-register online you may need to select the option to fill in all the details again. If I don't I get errors when using some transitions.
