re-rendering parts of a project

I finised rendering a 26 minute project and then realized that I needed to make a few changes. Is there any way to re-render just the events that changed without having to render the whole project again? I am a former user of Cinestream and with that program you could re-render sections of the timeline which then became part of the program track. Is there anyway to do this in Vegas? It would be great not to have to wait another 90 minutes for the whole project to render again.

If you did a "render as", the answer is no. Render As creates a completely new .avi file. If you pre-rendered the project, the answer would be yes. To get funtionality similar to cinestream, you could "render to a new track" which would give you, essentially, the VP track which you could then replace any section with another render of that section.

Consider using Print Video to DV Tape to perform your renders, which renders 10 second long segments of your tape (while you are at lunch, on the phone, or overnight, etc.) until you are finished rendering. At that point, the project is finished. However, should you need to come back and tweak some small portion of the project, in all likelihood you will only have to render that portion, again (in Print To Tape).

I say, in all liklihood, because, once in a while you change something which, unknown to you, changes something project wide. Then, all the little green markers (10 seconds each) disappear and you may have to render the whole thing, again.

Make sure you have the prerenders (PTT and otherwise) go to a known place (see below for how), because, in spite of what the menu item under Tools says, when you tell it to delete all inactive, or all prerendered files, it doesn't. You will eventually end up with one heck of a lot of small rendered avi that you have to manually delete, someday, or you will not have any disk space.

To set:

File > Project properties:

Prerendered files folder: (Set Destination)

Check "Start all new project with these settings"
