Sonicboom,

That was great! I really liked it. I think it accomplished the goal quite well (showing the fun atmosphere of this club). The only suggestions that I could even offer are minor at best.

You had some scenes where some people were talking to the camerea. It would be cool if you could have mixed that audio in but I would imagine that probably didn't work due to there was probably music in the background that obviously would not have matched the main track. so really even this is a moot point.

The only othe thing is that I would suggest is a border around your PIP's some of them kind of blended in with the main pic. but again...minor

Thanks again for posting.I wish more people would post some of their work for us to get ideas and learn from.

Great Job though!! -Shon

Nice work. How much did you have to pay for the rights to that tune? That was a high dollar buy.

The encode was at such a high bitrate that my old 450 wouldn't play it well. I reencoded it with WME at 500K 12 FPS with 64K audio 320x240 and it looked great. The file was only 5 meg afterwards and would play on low power machines. It could probably be encoded with even a lower bitrate but I didn't take the time to tweek it. You might want to consider playing with it. It would make it more attractive for others to download.

Nice women at the club by the way. good use of the PIP pool table and other activities while maintaining the party shots for theme.

Looks like a nice clip. Too large to stream. Couldn't see more than a second or two of movement at a time. I am on cable modem.

thnx everyone for the input
i appreciate it
sr_c you are right about the borders
i usually include them, in fact, i love them
but i figured the screen would be to small and it would take away from the picture
as far as the music is concerned, my friend made the audio and WANTED IT
i told him it skipped but he didn't care
funny thing is...i think i care more than him, and it's his club!!
anyway, i would encode it smaller if i knew how?
how exactly do i render it?
step by step, if you don't mind, i never did it before.
i made my friend a cd-rom and he loaded it
also, i told him about the song, rights and all
i wanted to make something cool in acid with all my loops
anyway, you guys are very generous with your input, and yes i am a hypnotist not a video guy, but i appreciate your input because i love doing this stuff
i wish i knew more i would post my hypnosis shows on the web
thnx
all

I've had pretty good results rendering to WMV at around 180Kbps. What you do is:

Select "File | Render As"
Type in a name
In the "Save As Type", select "Windows Media Video V8 (*.wmv)"
In the "Template", select "256 Kbps Video"
Click on the "Custom" button.
Click on the "Bit Rate" tab at the bottom of the dialog
"High speed internet" should be checked. In the box next to this, change the line from "250K" to "180K".
Click on "Ok".
Click on "Save".

This setting seems to provide the best combination of file size and quality for stuff on the web. I get around a 6Mb file for a 4:21 minute video.

You can see the results of this on my website at www.briancbarnes.homestead.com. Click on the "All Things Jackson" link, and on this page there is a link to this video.

bcbarnes thnx for the detailed info
great video....i want to be jackson's agent
also, when i first saw bubbles coming into the video i thought you did a special fx with vegas......lol
i really did
i was like, how did he do that? then i realized it was bubbles.
anyway, your video is almost 3 minutes long, mine is only 1:20 seconds
also, your video downloaded in like 3 seconds..that was fast
i am going to make it 512 k because i only have 1:20 seconds
it will be around 5 meg
then i will send it, and my friend will post it
thnx everyone
i know i'm a pain, but editing this stuff is just really fun to do
cheers
:)

The compression level thing seems to be well covered. I've fixed the music jump for you and rendered 30 secs from start for you to see.

http://home.hesbynett.no/saltor/_test/dtravefix.wmv (998 kB)

Here's the recipe:
Set the cursor at 22 sec between frame 03 and 04. Press s. Drag the right part of the audio two frames to the left. The parts will crossfade, depending on your settings. That's OK, you want that.
You'll need to cut two frames from the video as well. I did it at the same spot - you could do the same or find a better place, using the original .veg.

Streamed well, sounds great and looks good. The only suggestion I would offer is to to reduce the amount of PiP effects when the boxes covers people faces. If you need to put the PIP boxes somewhere, cover their feet. Anyway, its much easier to plopin a lot of quick disolves or cuts.

By fixing the music jump you also added what I thought was a cool effect with the dancing darkhaired girl. You made her skip forward suddenly which added a subtle quickening to the video.

The music picks up speed at that point. The girl's skip accentuates it.
It's probably an old edit that created the jump in the first place, possibly the intro has been shortened.

Anyway, it's easier to repair when the beat is too late than when it's too early. I would have had to fire up Sound Forge for that.
