Re: SVCD Error

Having read many of the back threads regarding VCD & SVCD creation I set about making a SVCD compliant file to burn to CD with Nero.

If I use the SVCD PAL template and MainConcept MPEG-2 compressor I noticed that the dimensions - as mentioned previously - have changed from 720x576 to 480x576. This means that it will be distorted. IIRC it was mentioned that tyhis would play correctly in a VCD player but what about a domestic PAL DVD or on a PC?

If I set the template to default with the same compressor selected I get an error 'An error occured while creating the media file <filename>.mpg. The reason for the eroor could not be determined'.

This error occurs as soon as I click on the Save button.

Any help, please.

The Standard for SVCD results in a horizontally compressed video file. The DVD will corrrect this upon playback. If your intent is to play it on a computer, then you need to change the MPEG settings to the correct aspect ratio when rendering.
