Re: Undoing Audio Effects

Hi

Further to my previous question about adding audio over original things are working quite well and I have sync'ed audio exceptionally well.

At one point the camera shot is outside the dance area so, to make the audio sound a litle more authentic, I split the event at the start/end points of that section and increased the base slighly and reduced the higher frequences giving a good impression of hearing the music through the wall.

Problem is, I would like to change some of the settings but can't seem to find a way to do so without CTRL-Z (undoing) the chages already made as there isn't a handle to click on such as there is for video effects. As I have made chages elsewhere the udo isn't really an option. Have I missed something obvious or do I really have to redo from scratch for the audio effects?

Cheers

Save the EQ settings that you want to reuse as presets.

That's fine for the future, but what about what I have already done?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here, I think you mean how do you keyframe the eq so that you can have the cut away with the bassy EQ and either side the normal EQ. Yes?

If so the fastest way is to create a new audio track, select the section you want to have different EQ and hit 2 or 8 on the number pad to move it down or up to the new audio track. Then adjust the eq for the two tracks seperately.

It is also possible to automate the EQ parameter (gain, frequency etc) - have a look in the biult-in help, but basically there is a button in the plugin window that lets you access and choose which parameters you want to automate. Once chose you can automate using envelopes on the timeline.

Hope this helps in some way!

Hi Ibliss

No, the keyframing thing was a problem - couldn't see how to do that so, as with everything in Vegas, there is more than one way to swing a cat and I simply split the event at the start and end of where I wanted the effect to take place.

Having done the changes and clicked on OK a short render took place but I cannot see how I can change what effect I have without deleting that section, expanding the old event and splitting again.

I have noticed a new wav file with the same title as the music event I added the effect to on my HDD called 'track title Take 4.WAV'.

If I simply delete this would that make things revert back to how they were. I am reluctant to try this in case I mess things up more than necessary.

It sounds like you are describing "Apply non-real-time event fx". What this does is create a new file (as you've seen) and add it on top of the existing event as a new take. You can right-click on the event, go to take and choose the previous version. Or you can hit 'T' to switch between the takes for that event.

If you decide to split that event again, you can still select the different takes on that seperate split events.

If you do go back the the original, you can apply a different effect, and then you will end up with three takes to choose from and so on.

That's it - sorry I should have said 'Apply non-real-time event fx'.

Is there another way of adding audio effects, then?

Thanks for all your help. Gone 1 am here so better get to bed. Will look for any replies in the morning.
