Hi

Now I've completed my first and successful DVD I have a Doctor collegue whose lecture it is. He would like a copy. It was recorded and edited in PAl here in the UK. I know there are differences with regions, etc. but if I render it as NTSC video stream (29.97fps) with everything else unchanged will it be viewable in the states?

Cheers

In general if there is no region encoding a PAL DVD should play back fine on any PC. Desktop units are another story. I am huge fan of the very inexpensive Apex units that allow for PAL/NTSC playback as well as PAL/NTSC output...I mean if he has one of the Apex units he would be able to just pop in a 1:1 copy of the PAL DVD and play it with no issues.

I guess what I am saying - don't convert it to NTSC if you don't need to. I have played back many PAL encoded videos and DVD's on my PC and PAL DVD's on my Apex going to an NTSC monitor with no isses at all.
