Re: Why is V4 rendering unchanged sections?

Hi

First of all a big thanks to all you guys and girls who have helped me so much over the last year or so.

My latest project whichis just over 40 minutes long took over 11 hours to render to mpeg2 DVD PAL Video stream only. this has surprised me as other projects of around half the time have only taken 2 to 3 hours. There are very few transitions (mostly crossfades) and a sprinkling of track motion key frames but all pretty straight-forward.

The priginal is captured as PAL DV straight from the DV out of the camera. When I pre-render (AVI - video for windows, PAL DV) I have noticed that quite a few events get rendered even when there are no keyframs/transitions/media effects, etc. I have moved/deleted such events and there are no takes or other events lurking underneath.

Can anyone ofefr a possible cause for this pre-rendering?

Also, something else I do not quite understand is I have endered to Dolby Digital AC-3 Stereo DVD which ha been fine. I have then made several adjustments to the audio including moving several sections along the timeline and re-rendered to the same file name. I click to overwrite this file and the rendering takes less than a second - it doesn't even appear to render. Any takers for this one?

Cheers

If it renders, Vegas must perceive some difference between the original media and the output settings.

Check all your project settings - are they the same as the captured media? Other things to look for - accidental reduction of opacity below 100%. Resample rate changed etc etc. Have you double checked that no FX are applied?

I have trouble with this, too. I have put a completely prerendered avi on a timeline by itself and before it will print-to-tape, Vegas renders every frame. I can't find any plug-ins or settings that would require this.
