Reactivating legacy Vegas Movie Studio product

I needed to reinstall windows 7 on my computer and subsequently Vegas Movie Studio. During the installation processes, I attempted to activate online, but it fails. I then went online to determine how to fix this and found I needed to reregister with the registration form. I fill it out with the serial number and machine ID, but when I submit, it gives me an error (-41) and does not let me proceed. As this is a legacy/non-supported product, I have no way to contact tech support either. Anyone know how to reactivate my software?

-41 means you've used up the number of allowed activations. You have to contact tech support and ask them to reset the counter, which they usually happily do. I've had them do that on a license that is not only 10 years old, but on a product which has been completely discontinued.

What makes you think you can't contact support?

I can second Chienworks. I've had exactly the same error message and I simply filled in the online support form and they reset my licence count. Job done.
