One thing you'll immediately notice is that for real time previewing via OHCI, Vegas on a 4200 will give you realtime preview of most events/filters. Vegas is much, much more efficient than Pinnacle Liquid or LE, and that goes a long way to giving you those previews.
If you're working in DV, you'll be pretty pleased with the render times of the 4200 as well.

Spot, what preview quality can be used and still be realtime (assuming no filters)?

"I have had a absolute nightmare with Pinnacle LE."

As have most users...

One thing it does do well it rendering and realtime previewing.
((depends on ur definition of realtime previewing.. i prefer the Vegas method of selecting a range, hitting loop and continuously tweaking as it plays back.. to ME, THATS realtime.. ))

If I buy a dual core 4200+ with 2gig memory will that goes to some way of replacing the real time card?

((Pinnacle doesnt have a realtime card, it uses ur open GL GFX display card to do SOME of its effects and transitions. Vegas doesnt use any of this. either way rendering will be faster than realtime if ur not even colour correcting.. when using filters, Vegas is STILL faster than realtime even on a single CPU system..
I would still prefer it to be faster as more than 2 or 3 effects in a chain (colour grading as an example) can start to bog it down a bit..

either way, the Vegas workflow itslef ill save u countless hours of tedious clickng

As for previewng, u can easily gt 3 to 6 streams previewing in realtime without any hassle..
