Realmedia plugin templates

mikkie wrote on 1/9/2001, 2:49 PM
Hi

After installing the realmedia plugin from this web site, I
noticed there's a help file (sfrealg2.chm) in the folder:
C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-Ins\File
Formats\G2 .

This help file talks about a wizard to create new realmedia
templates. This would really be handy, to be able to
customize the templates Video Factory uses, but I can't
find out how to access this wizard. Help!

Thanks
mike

VideoFactory does not allow custom streaming templates-
that's the domain of the pro video product (Vegas). The
help files are shared between different versions of the
plug-in, but the custom template info is not accesible from
within the VF plug-in. You can hack your way into more help
topics, but VF will not be able to do custom templates-
sorry

We have had a number of problems getting SVCD to work and
have decided to drop SVCD as a render template until
further notice. I don't have a timetable of when, or even
if, SVCD will re-appear as a render option. We never
guaranteed that we would do SVCD-compliant files, but I
certainly understand your frustration. Perhaps you can use
a different tool for this one process.

For now you'll

Dave,

Thank you for the info, I do appreciate it.

Ligos told me (and it is on their web site) that the latest
GoMotion SDK does support SVCD. I guess that you are using
the earlier version. Don't you think it is a bit silly to
support say DVD files when virtually no one has DVD
recorders nor menu softwhere / burners for such a thing but
you are unable to support SVCD which is very popular in the
PC video community?

I guess I am wondering what you guys are thinking... The
software is great and I enjoy using it, except for being
able to generate what is becoming a very popular method of
putting video, into a more permanent media. For all
practical purposes, being able to generate video is great
but if you can't save or play it (without using up a 80 gig
drive) then it really is'nt that useful is it?

I want to encourage you and your Sonic to use the newest
GoMotion SDK from Ligos to build a nice, complete solution
for Video Factory.

Thanks

Ron

Thanks Dave!

Not a big problem re: the realvideo templates; I was mainly
concerned my installation of Video Factory &/or the
realvideo plugin was broken.

First I had an install problem, then installed the plugins
(mpeg & real). Everything appeared to work, updated
realvideo itself, & came across a weird capture problem:
capture works with my marvel 400 the first time, then
writes to the registry, which from then on renders capture
inop.

Of course I didn't know that at the time, only that capture
worked the first time I'd tried it, so long story short, I
spent quality time renameing folders and editing the
registry. Thought maybe I hadn't quite got everything put
back right.

Thanks again
mike
