Recapturing problem

Hi all,

I am running Vegas 4.

I created a movie a couple of years ago and rendered it before recording it back to my digital camcorder as an avi to be stored as a mastercopy.

I now need recapture it but am having problems. When recapturing ,it captures it all, but splits it up into approx 250 separate clips. It totals about 1 hour 10 mins and is approx 12 gig in size. I am running XP Pro.

My first question is how can I recapture so I have smaller clips , the fewer the better.

The second question is that to join them on the timeline before re-rendering them as an Mpeg 2, I take the cursor to the end of the first clip on the timeline and then double click the next clip from the media pool which inserts it on the timeline as the next clip. I have done this several times and extremely carefully. However I have discovered that some clips appear corrupted in some way. There is a minute gap, or the clips don't synch properly or there is even a very slight judder as either the sound or video don't flow smoothly for some reason. Not on all clips, just some, but consistently the same clips. On the master tape (avi) it appears fine ?!

The problems in the second question are such that I hope fewer clips when capturing will ensure I have fewer joins on the timeline for the problem to occur.

I hope that makes sense and I would be grateful for any help.

In Capture Preferences, disable Scene Detection.

Capture should then be one continuous clip, though if your DV Tape contains a Print To Tape from a previous project, I'm not sure why it's splitting the capture up - it normally does that each time the shooting camera was stopped/restarted, if Scene Detection is enabled.
