My favorite is the Canon Elura- works great, excellent picture, best bang for the buck I've seen.

I tried a Canon GL-1 once - it was real nice.

I also tried a Canon ZR-10, which was merely OK, and a Panasonic "Digital Palmcorder" (I forget the exact model) which wasn't so good.

I'm using the Canon OpturaPI. I like it a lot.

Thanks guys. I just got my IRS refund check that's part of the "tax relief" package that's getting all the hype in the news. Too funny. Printed on the bottom of the check it says:

"Tax Relief For America's Workers" Who says the IRS don't have a sense of humor?

Don't get a Canon ZR-10. I am a lifelong Canon fan, but this camera has tons of problems. Just about every digital video editing forum on the web displays problem posts regarding this particular camera. The rest of the Canons rock.

I have the Canon Elura 2MC. That memory card is a waste of money, so I wouldn't bother with the MC version. I'm pretty sure that's the only difference between the two models. It is great, light weight, excellent stabilizer. Takes great stills, too. The only problem is the tape loading mechanism stopped working. I had to send it to the factory for repair. Got it back within a week, though.

The Sony DCR TRV 510 I've had a year works great, interfaces easily with my no-name IEEE card, and has presented no problems...ever.

What kind of problems with the ZR10? I bought one a month ago and have been extremely pleased with mine. VF 2 worked perfectly with it first time out and I bought it a few days later. And then you go dissing my camera. :)

Seriously, the only thing that gave me problems in my setup was my SIIG DV-Cam Kit 1394 card and Win2000. I upgraded to the XP preview and even that's working perfectly now. Go figure.

We've seen some device control problems with the early ZR10's, but I've been hearing that the newer models work just fine, so maybe they fixed something. If it works, use it! (it is a cool camera, at the right price, made by my favorite DV camcorder company)
