There is a consensus that 7.7.1 is pretty stable. Might also try 7.7.4.

Thanks. I've tried 7.7.4 and everything came back to normal.

It's pretty hard to find an old QuickTime version, I've got it from http://www.oldapps.com/quicktime_player.php

Glad that is working for you!
That oldapps site is clean, but you should be downloading old versions from Apple's repository:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime
http://support.apple.com/downloads/#itunes

Be sure to turn off automatic updates in Quicktime, or you'll end up back where you were.

Best for the New Year!

I was having LOTS of problems with Quicktime in SVP13. Error messages when I tried to input .MOV files to my videos. Tried every solution I could find on the Internet (including this site). Niverna came when I uninstalled QT and installed Quicktime Alternative. Hooray! I downloaded from here.
