Recompressing DV

If you have multiple clips of DV compressed AVI's, can Vegas put them together or edit them without recompressing the whole sequence?

I see very little quality loss from uncompressed AVI to DV but, multiple renderings of DV can produce significant noise.

Vegas recompress only the footage that is changed from the original (filters, transitions, etc). The SoFo DV codec is VERY good, and I have yet to see any noticable artifacting even with 4 or 5 generations.
