Reconnecting video w/ missing audio?

I used Ultimate S2 quad cam to edit a 2 camera shoot. This was the first time I every used that feature in US 2, it was great, easy to use, and saved me a bunch of time, but, when I put together to 2 tracks into one, it only used the audio from the 1st camera, not the 2nd.

I didn't notice this until I had done a fair bit of editing. Now I realize that the audio from the other camera (cam2) was for most parts much better. Most of the shots are from the camera w/ the better audio (cam 2) which was not kept.

My questions:
1. Is there a way to bring back the audio that was/ is attached to the original video clip?

2. In the future is there a better work flow for making sure you get the best audio when using quad-cam in Ulimate S2?

Thanks,

Gabe

If I think you are asking the question I TIHNK you are, I use "Orphan" in Edward Troxel's Excalibur - got me outta lodsa scrapes.

The OTHER option is to open orphaned in Trimmer - this would show up the audio. Also Right click on the Video, and pick off the find in Media Pool.

Once you have located the Audio you can then Rt DRAG the Audio to the OTHER audio and accept as a take. Now, I guess they WILL be out of sync - ie, 2 pieces of NON-grouped media - now you will have re-resync.

Bottom line here is that you have Video from one source and Audio from another source! Good luck!

I bet others have favourite ways to do this. These were mine.

Without knowing just how much editing you've done the longest but perhaps most goof proof way is as follows.

If you have an original project where you synced the two camera tapes ignore the first psrt of this.

Create a new project, Drop camera 1 and camera 2 tapes into it on their own tracks. Get them synced. Now mute camera 1s audio and camera 2's video and render it out to a new file.

If you still have the original project where you got them in sycn then just do the muting bit of the above and render out.

So what you end up with is a Camera 1 file but with Camera 2's audio.
Now open your US 2 project, goto media pool and replace the Camera 1 media with this newly created file. Job done.

I think Farss solution will have the best results / least headances. Unless you want both tracks, but using Farss example plus you can always create a sound track wav file of the orginal camera 1 for any required sound captures from camera 1 or part of the stereo feed from camera1.

This can all be done with Ultimate S2. Just use the Find Missing Audio tool on the Audio Tools tab of Ultimate S2 to get the audio back.

In the future, if you check the option in QuadCAm to [x] Include Audio it will keep the audio with the video as it makes the cuts using the audio from the camera it is switching to.
