Record Mode -question

I have a Sony HDR-SR12. It can record in a few settings up to 1920-1080i.

The camera shows that the HD FH (16m) setting is 1920-1080i "Full HD". I want to know what the other settings are.

My old camcorder (Sony HC-42) recorded in 720-480 only. Thats the setting I would like to use now. Would that be HD Standard Play on my new camcorder?

My guess is that
HD FH (16m) = 1920-1080
HD HQ (9m) = 1080-720?
HD SP (7m)= 720-480?
HD LP (5m)= no idea?

Could somebody please tell me the resolution of these settings or what they mean?

HD stands for HIGH DEFINITION. All the settings you have shown are HD at 1920x1080 the numbers are bitrates... the higher bitrate being better quality

But the SR12 is capable of shooting SD as well (720x480) at a bitrate of 3, 6, or 9Kb/s

Have a look at your manual an it will tell you how to switch over.

Your right. I found it under "media set". I was looking at "record mode" before. Awesome feature.

Thanks
