recording audio

I'm trying to record from a keyboard. Midi data has been transferred into a midi device. Now, I want this data to be imported into Vegas. I believe all my recording parameters have been set properly. When I activate an audio track, the message "MTC Input Waiting..." appears above the time line. What am I to do next?

When I press the record button on the Transport bar, the message "MTC Input not active" appears above the time line and an empty file is created.

Vegas is waiting for you to send it some Midi Time Code from your keyboard, or actually the Sequencer part of your keyboard. You have to enable your keyboard to send MTC through your midi out, or if it has a 1/4" out Smpte output you have to plug that into a midi interface that has a SMPTE IN, and then converts that to MTC. In either case you have to figure out how to generate MTC from your midi sequencer and get it into your PC through some kind of midi input.

The way you have it configured, is that Vegas is Slaving to your keyboard sequencer. You could do it in opposite order and send MTC from Vegas to your Keyboard, and in that case you would have to have your keyboard set to external sync. Both ways work, figure out which will work best for you.
