Vegas records whatever Windows is set to get from your sound card. Double-click the little speaker icon in the task tray to bring up the sound card's mixer control panel. Click Options / Properties / Recording / OK. You'll now see the recording inputs. Select the one you want and adjust the volume.

Yes - and you may possibly have to disarm and arm the recording in the track header to make VMS grasp the change in source.
