recording audio with effects question

Does Vegas 7 or 8 allow recording with plugins - where the plugins actually are in-line and get recorded. I want to compress a vocal input so as to get a hotter signal to disc. Right now with Vegas 6 , all I can do is get the compressor to do the work as it monitors the playback - the compression does not effect the actual recording . . .

No, there is no way to record "wet" in Vegas.

However, compressing a vocal input AFTER it has been converted to digital is NOT the same as using a compressor pre A/D conversion. It is NO different than applying the compressor live to the recording as we support now.

This is one reason why we don't support recording FX wet.

All you are doing is compressing the raw digital signal. You are NOT getting a true hotter signal from the analog source, which is what you really want.

To properly do this you need to use an external compressor.
