Go to "Options> Preferences> Audio Devices", assign USB keyboard there.

Thanks rraud, the casio is not listed in vegas (see screen shot) though I see it listed in music maker and in windows as a device.

Are you trying to record audio output or MIDI? Vegas does not handle MIDI.

In your picture of Preferences you show Playback devices; what selections are available for Recording Device ( further down the window) once you change to different device types at the top?

If the keyboard has an analog outputs, use that. Many consumer keyboards have RCA and headphone outputs. Which is usually line or instrument level (not microphone),
