Recording Gives Me White-ish Noise - Monitor Sounds Fine - Recorded track zooms past location in song while recording

I've been recording successfully with Vegas for awhile now. Suddenly, I started having the following problem:

When recording any of my inputs on my Delta 1010, I get nasty dirty white-ish noise. What's strange is that the recorded waveform zooms past the actual location in the playback of the project while recording.

Please note that when monitoring in Vegas before recording, levels look fine, sound is great.

Another interesting note is that if I have a track set to record, but am only playing the project back, the meter on the set-to-record track goes crazy, peeking out and definitely not monitoring what I am about to record.

I can record a stereo track fine in Sound Forge.

Strange and frustrating.

Thanks for any help anyone might have.

Even more importantly, what version of the Delta 1010 drivers are you using and what Windows OS are you using?

I'm using the latest versions of everything (except for Windows 2k):

Vegas Audio 2.0h
Delta 1010 drivers (5.10.0027)
Windows 2000 SP-2

This wasn't happening a week ago and I haven't upgraded anything.

I tried recording a fresh track in Cool Edit Pro and had the same problem. Freaky. Thanks for the help.
