recording into vegas problem

im using vegas audio 2.0a running w2k and i am having problems recording into vegas from my cd rom drive on my pc. i load my cd rom, play the cd, hit the *arm for record* button and when i press the record button it seems to record what i want.. the problem is that when im done, i cant seem to play what i just recorded or better yet, it never recorded. i usually see the wave lines but now i see nothing.. any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance

Is this an analog audio recording you're trying to do from the CD? Have
you considered ripping the track to a .wav or .mp3 file instead? There's
tons of software available out there that does track ripping, lots of it
free, and you may even already have some installed. SoundForge 5 will,
as well as most any mp3 player software. Once you've done this you can
import the audio file and keep it digital all the way.

ok cool i will try that but now i have yet another problem.. when i try and play something in vegas audio i get this message ** AN ERROR HAS OCCURED WHILE STARTING PLAYBACK. UNABLE TO MIX AUDIO. THE OPERATION TIMED OUT* and/or i get this * an unexpected error has occured**.. any suggestions?? thanks in advance
