Recording narration

Can anyone suggest a simple way (or the simplest way) to record a narration? Can it be done in real time ie while watching the video?

Sure. Plug a microphone into the mic jack on your computer. Arm an audio track for recording. Press the record button. Talk into the mic while you watch the video in the preview window. Press stop when done. Save the .wav file when prompted.
