Recording problem... must be something simple

Having trouble recording audio with microphone... I'm trying to record using instructions from help file. Anyway, after I stop the recording (which shows up on the level meters), I never get the "Recorded files" dialog. The recorded audio never gets created into a file. I've tried both the Microsoft Sound Mapper and the Windows classic wave driver. Both demonstrate voice levels on the record meter, but I never get any files created? I'm sure it's got to be something simple. What am I overlooking?

System:

Athlon 800
384 MB RAM
Soundblaster PCI
Vegas Video 3.0 (b76)

Thanks,

Tom

I had trouble at first. I had to press record on the track and then press record on the transport controls below timeline. I am not sure if this is your proble. Also I have had VV3 lockup if i do not unselect record on track before i start play back or try to do anything else.

I didn't experience this problem until recently and after hours of troubleshooting, I still couldn't figure out what the problem was. Finally, I got frustrated and decided to reinstall the software. It has been working perfectly ever since. If you don't find a solution, you might try reinstalling as a last resort.

The advice to press record on the track and then record on the time line worked for me. Took a little effort for me to figure this out but it works fine.

If I'm not mistaken, pressing the red button on the track only arms that track for recording. Recording actually starts when you press record button on transport control.
