Hi, I would like for someone to tell me how do I hook up my computer to my vcr to sent video into it? I have a gateway PentiumIII 450 computer and a Sony DCR-TRV530 Digital8 cam. I have tryed Vidowave now using Videofactory and I get the same problem with trying to send the finish move back to the camera, so maybe I can send it to the VCR but don't know how. please help.

In order to send video to your VCR, you need hardware capable of this, such as the some video cards capable of video output, or the Pinnacle DC10plus card. YOu might also be able to send video to your DV camcorder and pass thru to the VCR, but if you are having trouble sending video to your camcorder, this probably won't work either.

What problems do you have sending to the camcorder?

With Sony's you need to go firewire out to the Sony then from the Sony to the vcr. Your problem probably is that with the Sony (Ihave one) You have to go to the internal menu and usually the first item up is the camera you need to scroll down to the DV out and turn it off. If you don't it tries to send the dv back to the computer and cancels itself out.

It will start recording good but then it will jerk and sometimes completely stop, and the sound is jerky.

Thr menu button turns the menu on and when you have the changes made just push the menu button again and it will revert to the lcd screen again. I also leave the lcd screen open when I am imputing tape into the computer as with firewire you do not get sound and I am always concerned that te sond is not getting through. So I listen it to it from the camera speaker just to make sure it is pasing through ok. As to jerking and stopping I have thought about it and cannot think of a reason for it it must be something mechanical I would think. If all else fails do not forget your local high school. I have called them before with problems and they will hook me up with one of the sharp kids and he or she will come over to the house and before you know it have everything straightened out. these kids today are so far ahead of us in the learning curve. I went to night school a couple of years ago to learn html. I was already using dreamweaver but thought it would be nice to have better understanding of html well my "teacher" was all of 17 years old and it was all I could do to keep up with him. People do not realize what a help our local schools can be. Don't forget it is our taxes educating them.
