recording tracks

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to prevent a new track that is being
recorded from effecting a previously recorded track.
Is there some setting somewhere that allows me to record to
a track individually, rather than recording all tracks at
once?

How is this effecting previously recorded tracks? Heres
how I record. 1) Arm the track to record. 2) Specify what
input I would like to use from my soundcard. 3) Hit
record. Anything passing through that input will be
recorded, and anything not shouldn't be effected.
