Recording with effects

Hi, maybe this is totally non-sense, but I have to ask...

I'm going to record some singers soon. They prefer to hear some effect (reverb) on their voice when recording their part. If that is possible, I'd like to make that happen, but I do not that effect to be recorded with the voice on the track, so I can add a different reverb to the vocals later.

So, 1)can you record with effects, 2) Can you let them hear the effect but not record it on track?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Effects in Vegas happen after A/D conversion so it's not possible to effect the signal on the way in. (unless of course you feed it through hardware fx before a/d conversion)

To answer the second part, you could take a feed from your mixer/desk/preamp and run that through a hardware verb and feed it to their phones while recording the main feed dry into Vegas.

I was afraid that would be the case. Ok, thanks a lot!

All the best,
