Recording with mic... half second delay

I put a guitar track down with Vegas 4.0 and tried to sing with it and the mic is picking up the sound a half second later. I didn't have this problem with Vegas 2.0.

I am using sound blaster live with a creative drive that comes with it. It has a real mic jack on it that I am useing.Is there a setting I need to change?

I called tec support and they said:
(Of course you have to pay for it unless it is only 60 days after your purchase date) :)

1). Right Click where you see the track nunber
2). Then scroll down to "Record Inputs"
3). If it is "Checked" then "Uncheck It"

This is if you use Sound Blaster Live sound card.
