reduce background noise

I am currently doing a training video in a warehouse. There is lots of background noise. I was thinking of doing all of the sound in my Studio (fixed up garage), but I noticed there were some shots that I want to keep with someone speaking during the ambient noise. I've looked into the "Darkside" (FCP) momentarily, and noticed a noise reduction application in their program. I was thinking of getting the Noise Reduction program by Sony if it does the same thing. Can it do this?

If you want to shoot me a small small wav I'll have a go. Rule of thumb for me is that the Noise must be of some significant difference than the target sound. But yes, give me a "slice of pie" and I'll have a go. I've removed Air Con stuff and distance motorway sounds from a blackbird's dusk's song call!

. .and yes, I do have NR. It is brilliant.

Is 1.25mb too big a file? How do I send you a file?
I tried clicking on your name, and I see to post a message, but how do I send the wav?

I just downloaded the trial version. I can't seem to open it. I saw that it installed a directory, but I don't see an icon.

Also, how do I do in NR2 what they did in the FCP demo?

Noise reduction works best if the noise is at constant frequency (like in a 60 cycle hum for example) If the noise is a variable frequency (even crickets) it wont work very well. You can use trial downloads to test it.

John, did you check out the site?

That lady had a motorboat in the background and it was taken out.
I have a generator in the background that is too loud.

I downloaded the NR2 trial version, but I don't see an icon to open it.

NR should be able to reduce it. After you install it, it should show up along with the other filters like Color Correction, etc.

Thanks, I'll be back this afternoon to try it. But for now, back to the shoot.
