why would you use this feature? And should you use it on all your still titles. Please let me know as I am tring to finish a project. Sometimes I get a combing effect on my video as well. How can I reduce that? Thanks in advance.
You will get the combing effect from any interlaced video such as full resolution DV. That is the nature of the beast. It is interlaced (combed).
Reduce interlace flicker is for graphics of stills created in a computer and being transfered to video. If there is fine detail that is one pixel in size then it will flash (flicker) on and off with the interlaced picture. Avoid one pixel high details and you will avaiod this flicker. If you can't avoid it then use the Reduce interlace flicker option and it will apply a very light blur which will reduce the flicker.
I use it on all imported stills. The titles generated in Vegas do not require it. I wish DVD Workshop would apply it to its frames though <g>.
Thanks for your quick response. I have one more question. Sometimes I get a little artifacts around a subject. Is there anyway to get rid of that or to reduce it or to stop this from happening. Thanks.
When I was having major problems with moire and pixelation of my rendered video it was suggested by SonicEPM that I use Reduce Interlace Flicker to reduce the problem. I couldn't figure why. The second post on this thread told me why.
I also received the advice of Chienworks to apply a minimum (.001) Gaussian Blur. Seems that worked, and was finished with the project and I never tried Reduce Flicker. But, finding out that it introduces a blur probably explains why SonicEPM suggested it. I will certainly try it when I need it next. That Gaussian Blur worked miracles, by the way. Thanks to both.
