Region markers from Vegas to DVD Arch

saintom wrote on 4/22/2009, 3:18 PM
Hello,

I was under the impression that the Regions I set in Vegas would come up in DVD arch. The regular markers came up in DVD arch but not the regions.

I have been searching both help files ( Vegas and DVD arch) but I can't find out how to have the regions I set up in Vegas show in DVD Arch.

What am I missing?

Thanks

Tom

Nope. What would you want them imported as? Regular markers are imported as chapter points.

Not sure why you would want to import REGION markers, but you can sort of trick vegas into exporting region markers into DVDa.

Use the "export regions as subtitles" script (included with vegas) to export your regions as subtitles. Then in dvda add a subtitle track and import your blank subtitle boxes (which will start and end with each marker set) and you will use these as your makers.

Thanks, for clarifying that. I thought I wanted them to be imported as chapter points, but that is not the case.

What threw me was the script "export regions as subtitles" that made me think regions were used for chapters.

I guess I am unclear about region markers, What are some uses for region markers?

I am not sure either, I thought thats what I needed to do ;)

Thank you after further searching and stubbornness I came up with that same idea.

"I think "regions" are legacy artifacts of the audio editing aspects of Vegas."

Well... that COULD be true but point of fact... what ever their use was before, they're now used intensively for building, setting up and exporting subtitles in a video. I use region markers and subtitling for just about every video I do.

Thanks for those tips. I just found another use for them and ultimately exactly what I was looking for, the batch rendering script.

Thanks for all of the help.
