Reinstall V7

I built a new computer last year and installed VP8. Then I installed V7. I have used VP8 since that time and never used V7. Last night I opened V7 and realized it was the orignal without the upgrades. So, I started to upgrade to 7e and it wanted to overwrite some files in VP8. I stopped the install of V7. Should I let it install and overwrite V8 files (will it?) or how should I do this?

Could be wrong, but I think the major versions (5, 6, 7, 8) all install to different folders, so you can have multiple versions installed without any conflicts. Also, keep in mind that veg files created in an earlier version can be read by a later version, but not vice-versa. Recent comments on this Board seem to indicate, however, that one can relatively easily take a later project back into an earlier version by use of the EDL function. Haven't tried it myself.

The files that are being overwritten are in the Setup directory which is only used during the installation process. For reasons that are probably known only by the SONY programmers, this useless directory lingers after the install is finished. You can delete it if you want to, or leave it there if you don't want to be bothered. The upshot is, if you install a different version with the directory still there you'll see the complaints, but you can ignore them.
