Removed 2nd Monitor-No Preview

I have been attempting to learn Vegas Pro for the past few months. Anyways I had an extra monitor sitting around so I decided to hook it up as 2nd monitor. Call me weird, but I didn't really care for having 2 monitors so I then removed the 2nd one from my system. All other programs I use recognized that I removed the monitor. But now when I use Vegas and I single click on media in media explorer, nothing previews. Once I move the media to the timeline and preview from there, I can see it. Makes it hard if my files are cryptically named (my own fault). I have went into the preferences but see nothing that I can change back to main monitor.

Try: View | Windows Layouts | Load Default Layout and see if that resets your window positions.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try that when I get home.

That didn't work. When I go into preferences, under preview device it lists three choices - AJA Video Device, OHCI 1394, and Windows Secondary Display. Under details, Vegas claims that device is connected and it's not. I've went into control panel - system - device manager and that lists only one display. Where is Vegas getting the second display information from?

To reset Vegas to factory default settings:

hold down Ctrl and Shift while starting up.

Right click on Desktop -> Properties-> Settings. See how that looks. If the 2nd display is showing, that's probably where Vegas gets it.

Blink - no joy. But thanks for the reply.

Preview from explorer gives me sound but no picture. It's like every program and windows setting sees one monitor, but Vegas is stuck on two, one of which is no longer there.

Have you just upgraded to 8.0c? If yes, it's playing in the trimmer and you have to turn that off. It's all explained in the "read me" documentation.

Jetdv,
Thank you for reading the read me!
I could not preview my clips anymore either and just have not had the time to troubleshoot.

Lesson learned. I promise to read that stuff from now on!
