Removing scratches and pops from recording

Hi all,

I have been moving some of my old 33 1/3 LPs to CD. I've been using Vegas 4 to record and burn the new media.

As you might expect, my old albums have the normal amount of pops and scratches. I know that the Sony noise reduction program is suppose to work well on this type of noise, but at over $250 it is a bit pricey for me.

Are there other programs like the Sony noise reduction that are less expensive? Freeware / Payware? Or is there an FX in Vegas 4.0 that I am missing that will work.

Any help would be great.

Glenn

A company by the name of Blaze Audio have some tools that seem to be a lot cheaper and might fill your needs. I cannot vouch for their quality but I think you get a 30 day free trial from memory. I got SF7, NR2 and all the other goodies for a good price so I lost interest in the Blaze Audio stuff but they seemed like a nice bunch that were trying hard, they even took one of my suggestions on board and implemented it and had the decency to email me back saying so.

Also I seem to recall Nero has some similar tools and that seems to come with just about every CD burner these days so you could almost consider that "free".
