Removing unwanted texct etc

I have been given older video to rework for a dvd. The older camcorders had a date and time stamp on the video.

How can one effectively remove this using Vegas without destroying the original quality which is not bad for the material I have received.

BTW - I am relatively new to Vegas (much easier to work with than anything else I have used)

Kind regards

Jeremy

VDub has a date/time remover, in Vegas there is no easy way by itself to do this.

There is no filter in Vegas to do this. However, there are several excellent "delogo" filters available for VirtualDub and for AVISynth, two shareware video programs. Many of these filters can be used within Vegas using Satish's "Wax" plugin.

Get the Delogo filter here:

Get Satish Wax plugin here:

Wax Plugin for Vegas

To use Delogo, you capture a single frame of video that has the date/time stamp you want to remove. You then bring this frame into a photo editing program (Photoshop, etc.), and "paint over" the logo using pure red (255, 0, 0). Make sure to cover the logo completely -- you are better off painting out a larger rather than a smaller area. If you can get a frame grab on a frame that has a uniform gray background behind the logo, it makes it easier to see where some of the "stray" pixels from the logo reside. You have to paint over these to make the logo completely disappear.

The results can be stunningly effective, if done correctly.
