Rename restore file?

A couple of time I have opened VV only to get the messages that my previous project hadn't shut down correctly even though I didn't notice any thing unusual about the shutdown. I'm asked if I wish to open a restore file with a name like 00000008. Can I assume that the offered file will be a most resent save position including any save that I initiated? If so do you just rename this file to the name you had for your last save?

No, it isn't usually the most recent save. I will always open it just to make sure and then compare it to my last saved document. I'm not sure why it happens, but the autosave happens after a period of time, not after landmark events, such as closing the document, so typically it isn't the most recent saved document.
