Render 16:9 to 4:3?

Is it possible to render a HD recording to a side-cropped 4:3 format?

Yes, load it into a 4:3 project and use pan-crop.

Thanks. When I do that I get thin black lines on each side. I set the project for 720x480. I can't see a way to get rid of the black lines.

Open Pan/Crop, right-click on the window and select Match Output Aspect. That will guarantee that the crop matches your project. If you already cropped, select Restore first and then Match Output Aspect.

Make sure also that in addition to 720x480 you also have the PAR set to 0.9091. There are SD templates that set all this for you so you shouldn't have to type in any numbers yourself.
