Render booster

A bit drastic but try this see if it works for you.

Render somthing.
Note the completion time.

Render same project
Go into Task manager/processes
end processes on explore :^) yes explore.

The desktop will be inoperable but Vegas keeps on rendering.

Only problem is don't know how to start explore again other than rebooting.

I'm not planning on trying it right now. Did you have results you can share?

I was trying to render a 3:30 minute 1080i bridal.

First try took 4 hours.

Without explore running it took about 3:20.

It may have been a one time fluke or maybe one of the other exe that I ended was causing the delay.

Also take note of the immediate drop in memory ussage.

Its drastic I know but if the computer is rendering over night you don't need explore running anyway.

I am going to try it on the ceremony tonight.

With HD files I do anything to shave some time off.

I'd be curious to see if the quality of both versions is equal.

You just stopped a big percentage of windows internals, and if any of the render engine pieces need something from there, it wouldn't be available. And it doesn't mean "since it didn't crash, it must be OK."

It is very easy to code a program to ignore system exceptions (errors, calls to non-existent functions) and continue as normal, with the user never knowing an error occurred.

It's easy to start explorer again. Ctrl-Alt-Delete to bring up task manager, File / New task, type in explorer, press enter.

After reading your original message again, I checked my system and Google.

Explorer.exe is a MS windows program.
Explore.exe is a virus.

Google the latter for info.

I checked my Task Manager and I only have Explorer.exe running

Sorry that was a typo it is explorer. I pretty well shut down anything that can be shut down other than svhost which forces the system to shut down.
