Render/Encode Problem

Preface: I am new to the VV interface as I am evaluating it as a replacement for Cinestream/EditDV which I currently use. I am playing with VV3LE and Premiere before making up my mind.

Problem: I put a 3 minute clip into VV3 and trimmed it up all pretty like. Then saved the project file and went to File - Render As to export it as a 256k .wmv file. When VV3 attempts to render/encode I get the following error:

An error occurred while creating the media file PersAir-Dateline.smv.Error 0xc00d0bc2 (message missing)

From there I can only click OK and return to editing with the hope that I will eventually be able to export my work.

Has anyone had this problem and solved it? Does anyone know why this might be happening to me? Can someone please solve the mystery of the clip that would not 'render' itself encoded? :)

Thanks in advance,

Jeff Daly

**UPDATE TO MESSAGE** I did apply the latest build of VV3LE and this did not help.

Can you render the file as an avi file? This will tell us whether there's a .wm encoding problem, or a problem with the source file.

".smv"...is that a typo?

SonicEPM,

I did just try it as a Real Media file and it is currently encoding. I guess I will try to export as .avi first and then use the WM9 Encoder program directly. I do have the Windows Encoder 9 beta installed...could that be the problem? Does VV use an internal encoder or what is installed on my system?

By the way ".smv" was a typo

Thanks!

Although I am not certain the problem is with WM9, please be aware that the WM9 beta encoder has not been extensively tested by anyone at SF. Use at your own risk-
