"Render Failure"

George Durakovich wrote on 3/29/2010, 10:25 AM
I build a project with Architect Studio 4.5 - adding clips - all WMA files. It looks perfect, but when I go to burn a disk I get at spots "Render Failure"s.
Sometimes the problem is resolved if I delete newly - created by Sony - STK files in the video source folder or reloading the project.
But now these schemes don't work and I am stuck.
I have a new computer with 4 Intel Cores, 6 gigs memory and Windows 7 running with the just purchased Sony "Movie Studio 9" product.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

What is the source of the WMA files?

If you are making a DVD, your best file format is an MPEG2 created for a DVD.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

All files are downloaded from youtube.com using "Any Video Converter" and get written as WMA files.

I feel the problem is Sony. I just started a new project. I created a submenu that contains 7 4 min clips. The next day when I loaded the project all showed "Render Failure" (RF). I reloaded the project and all but the first two showed RF. I reloaded a third time and only clip #2 showed RF. It's frustrating.

Before you blame DVD Architect, you might want to try a more standard file format. Any Video Converter may not be producing files the program can work with.

As you're converting to WMA, rather than WMV, I assume you don't want the video component.

Mike,

Interesting comment. I selected from "Any Video Converter" the output format "WMV (*.wmv)" but it download all files as WMA.

But I think my problem is fixed - see next post.

Thanks,

George

First of all I want to thank Dave, Steve, and Mike for taking the time to address my problem. It's deeply appreciated.

I'm pretty sure my problem is fixed. Using, as suggested, MPEG II files, an experimental project has not yielded any "Render Failure"s in three days of testing.

Thanks again,

George
